But there’s no Mickey Roarke. No famous Mickey Roarke, anyway. Just an actor whose name has been spelled incorrectly. Sorry to tell you, fella, but you’ve typed in the wrong person’s name if you’re looking by an actor whose first name is Mickey and whose last name sounds like Roarke; the guy you’re searching for doesn’t exist.

YOU are looking for Mickey Rourke. Rourke with a u, not an a. You’re pretty damn close, so good for you - and, luckily, you’ve landed in the right spot anyway. This is a resource for Mickey Rourke movies and other info. So just head over to the right and check out some other categories.

And next time, be sure to spell his name right. Kay? Kay.

Sorry, Mickey Rourke, but it’s hard to take those years of boxing away from your face.

It’s not that Rourke is an ugly guy or anything. Most women used to think him fairly gorgeous. But he’s not an overly attractive man nowadays, thanks again probably to a sport that has left his face looking oddly streamlined.

He’s sort of average. Maybe a bit above. At any rate, Rourke may have thought so, as well: according to AwfulPlasticSurgery.com he’s almost certainly been the subject of plastic surgery attempts, and failed ones at that. They’ve decided that his nose - which was flattened during his boxing days - has definitely been worked on, and to little effect. It still looks a bit off.

But it’s the face, the rest of the face, that really draws attention. It’s altogether too shiny. Everything just looks a bit too big, a bit too off, compared to his eyes and mouth. The whole look simply doesn’t work for the star. He may be getting back into acting something fierce these days, but Rourke isn’t going to win any beauty contests.

No offense, Mickey. You’re still an awesome actor regardless.

Mickey Rourke’s latest cinematic achievement of note was 2005’s Sin City, based on the Frank Miller comic of the same name.

Rourke plays the part of Marv, one of the main characters in the film (and in almost all other Sin City stories to date). A giant, hulking thug, Marv is nevertheless not without his own set of scruples, and when a prostitute he slept with his murdered he sets out to discover the killer, not only to clear his own name but to avenge her death.

With time Marv tracks down the real killer, a mute cannibal named Kevin (played by Elijah Wood) who believes that he’s bettering himself by eating the souls of prostitutes. Marv beats Kevin to within an inch of his life after a ferocious battle (Kevin himself is a highly skilled fighter) and, after severing his arms and legs, leaves Kevin to be eaten by his pet wolf.

Marv is captured by the police, however, and after a short stay in jail and some bad beatings he is electrocuted. Marv manages to survive one blast of the electricity (insulting his captors in the process), but a second does the big man in.

Critically praised for playing Marv, Rourke received both awards for the role and the jump start his career needed after breaking from it for several years. If/when there is a second Sin City movie, Rourke will almost certainly be brought back.
